A Door to the Future for Children in South Lebanon
In the aftermath of the 2023–2024 war in South Lebanon, ALAM Suisse chose to invest in something essential: children’s ability to keep learning, rebuilding, and preparing for the future. In partnership with Beit el Baraka, its trusted partner on the ground in Lebanon, ALAM Suisse equipped computer labs in two Lebanese schools serving communities deeply affected by conflict: Collège Cadmous in Jwar el Nakhl Tyr and Ecole Saint Georges Pilote in Tibnin, in the Bint Jbeil district.
Together, these two schools serve more than 2,000 students.
At Collège Cadmous, around 1,500 students gained access to a fully equipped computer lab with 30 laptops and wireless mice.

At Ecole Saint Georges Pilote, which serves around 600 students, the intervention included 31 laptops, wireless mice, a projector, a projection screen, electrical and cabling works, and new classroom furniture to create a functional and welcoming learning environment.

But this project is about far more than equipment.
For children growing up in crisis, access to technology is not a luxury. It is a lifeline. Learning how to use a computer gives students practical skills that are now essential for education, communication, and future employment. It also gives them confidence and independence.
This is especially important in Lebanon, where war and displacement can force schools to close overnight and push children into remote learning with very little preparation. When students know how to use digital tools on their own — how to access lessons, follow online classes, complete assignments, and stay connected to learning — they are far better equipped to continue their education during periods of forced distance learning. In this sense, teaching computer skills is also about helping children remain autonomous in times of crisis.
That reality has become painfully urgent once again. Today, South Lebanon is once again affected by war. Schools have faced renewed disruption, families have been displaced, and many children are once again living with fear and uncertainty. In such a context, every investment in education becomes more than support for learning: it becomes an investment in resilience, dignity, and hope.
Through this project, ALAM Suisse and Beit el Baraka have helped ensure that thousands of children are not left behind. They have helped reduce the digital divide for students who might otherwise have no access to technology at all. And they have given young people the tools not only to learn, but to adapt, persevere, and keep moving forward even in the shadow of war.
ALAM Suisse is deeply grateful to all those who make this work possible, and to Beit el Baraka, whose commitment on the ground helps turn solidarity into concrete action where it is needed most.
